Track Field & Life: Bringing Our Sport Together

Jun 2, 2025

Track and field has always been a huge part of my life. From the moment I stepped onto a track as a young athlete, I was hooked. It’s a sport with so many incredible facets — the raw power of the throws, the precision of the jumps, the grit of distance events, and the sheer excitement of sprints and hurdles. There’s something magical about how it all comes together. That excitement hasn’t faded for me. I still love talking about athletics, reminiscing with old teammates and competitors, and, perhaps most importantly, coaching and mentoring the next generation of athletes.

Over the years, I’ve watched with pride as the sport has grown and evolved. There are some fantastic new initiatives emerging, particularly in the US. People like Michael Johnson, Alexis Ohanian, and Ryan Crouser are doing amazing work to push athletics forward, adding to the success of the Diamond League and the incredible spectacles that the sport delivers at major international championships. On top of that, we’re seeing breathtaking performances in road running on an almost weekly basis — from marathons to city races — pushing the limits of human endurance and inspiring fans around the world.

All of this made me think: how can we bring these efforts, stories, and communities together in one place?

That’s why we created Track Field & Life (TFL).

TFL is designed to be a digital hub where the entire athletics community can meet. A place where fans can follow competitions and results, athletes can share their journeys, and everyone involved in the sport — from grassroots to elite — can feel part of the same global family. It’s not a social network in the traditional sense; it’s a platform built around the sport we all love, celebrating performances, stories, and connections.

I’ve been overwhelmed by the support from friends and colleagues in the sport. Many have already said they’ll contribute to TFL, adding their voices, stories, and content to help create something truly special. Together, we have a chance to build the best track and field audience in the world — one that’s passionate, engaged, and celebrates every facet of our incredible sport.

TFL is just getting started, but the goal is clear: to bring the global athletics community closer together, digitally and personally. I hope you’ll join us.

See you on TFL.
